Alan Fink has been painting professionally for 40 years, but has been drawing and painting for most of his entire life. Always looking to learn and absorb more in a variety of creative disciplines, Alan spent years studying architecture, film-making, painting and sculpture. In 1972 he began teaching in the private art school started by his mother Paula, an accomplished artist and art teacher. Alan works in a variety of styles, mostly traditional realism, but is equally skilled in contemporary, impressionistic and surrealistic genres. Most of his work is created in the main studio located in the Fink School of Traditional Art (www.finkartschool.com) in Reisterstown, MD, but when he is not at his easel, you can find him roaming through the eastern shores of the Delmarva peninsula seeking inspiration for his next painting. Alan is an avid practitioner of yoga and the martial arts, hence his favorite expression "spiritual exploration, visual explanation". He believes that a true visual artist must perceive and exist on many different planes in order to fully experience and translate the world around us.
